Deep Throat Takes NYC

It’s probably not what blessedly ex-Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani had in mind for his city when he helped turn Times Square into an extension of the Happiest Place on Earth, but it’s an unavoidable fact that porn is returning to the Big Apple. Given the hype generated thanks to the release of Inside Deep Throat, a critically acclaimed documentary about the first truly major porn flick, it’s not illogical that the company holding the film’s rights should bring it back into the light of the movie theater. Perhaps it’s not even surprising the Arrow will launch an international talent search for the next Linda Lovelace. After years of office chatter, the search will begin in earnest during the Erotic Expo NY, held May 19 – 21 at the Hotel Pennsylvania and continue through at least June, when the company attends Erotica L.A. Once they’ve found her, the new throat will do what few sane humans would consider: star in a remake of the 1972 fuck flick that put porn on the entertainment map, ultimately proving to be one of the most commercially successful indie flicks of all time.

In spite of its fame – or infamy – the flick really wasn’t that good, so perhaps re-shooting it is a good idea. According to Arrow owner, Ray Pistol, the new Lovelace won’t just look good and suck cock like a champ, she’ll be able to act – and will have to prove it by participating in a good old fashioned New York audition. You know, like they have for real plays and movies. In addition to casting calls, contests will be conducted in strip clubs, and talent scouts will scour the earth for as long as it takes to find the new Linda. According to Pistol, “The winner will be chosen from a group of finalists, much like American Idol.” Pistol did not indicate whether or not Paula Abdul would be involved in the judging, coaching, or deep throat training of any potential porn star hopefuls.
