1. How long have you been in the adult industry?

MrYum: I started dabbling in adult in January 2001.  By August 2001, I had wound down my accounting business and went into adult full time...building sites for Yahoo listings.  The Yahoo business model worked pretty well for about a year, then I couldn't achieve listings that justified the $600 submission fee.  After submitting several sites and getting poor ROI, I decided a change was needed and started building free sites for link lists.  Now, I think of myself as a fairly prolific free site builder and recently opened my internal link list to public submissions.

2. Can you give our readers a little background about yourself. What did you do before you got in this business?

MrYum: I had been in accounting for over 10 years and was pretty much at the top of my game in the field.  I'd reached a level of success and reputation such that my work was in demand, and I was able to work my own hours...usually from home, unless there was a meeting that required my attendance.  And I billed for every hour I worked...it was a pretty sweet gig.  BUT, I got to where I absolutely hated accounting work!  It was SO fucking tedious and boring...lol.

Having just gone through an amicable divorce, I decided to do something fun for a living.  I decided to get into online porn and throw away a pretty lucrative career.  Still wonder about that decision sometimes...lol.

3. How did your previous job/profession help you in what you do today?

MrYum: My accounting background still serves me well.  I do my own bookkeeping, taxes, etc..  And having a head for numbers, I'm usually pretty quick to realize when something doesn't add up right...or when someone is trying to...well, let's be nice here...take advantage of a situation :)

The accounting background also prepared me for the necessary organizational skills needed in our industry.  Given how much competition there is in adult these days, one really has to stay organized to keep track of submissions, content, sponsors, recips, etc..

Now, with 2257 in the works...organization will be more important than ever.  This profile isn't about 2257, but I will say that keeping good track of content is going to be more important than ever no matter what happens with the current regulations.

4. What is your daily routine - of and with the maintenance of your website?

MrYum: I generally work pretty odd hours...well odd for normal 9-5 folks anyway.  For our industry, my hours probably aren't that out of whack :)

My girlfriend wakes me up at 9 in the morning with a hot cup of coffee.  I usually go to my office and sip coffee while checking statsremote, clearing mail boxes of spam...and catching up on the boards.  Then, another cup of coffee and sit outside by the pool...have a smoke and chat with the girlfriend for a bit...see how the morning submissions went.  Then, it's off to a hot shower...and I'm generally at the computer working by 10.

Another clearing of the mail boxes (crap, I lots of spam...fuckers!).  Another round of the boards...this time I'll post (since I'm awake now...lol) if any threads are of interest.

Then, it's time to get some porn slung!  My girlfriend does submissions for me, so if she's noticed any recip changes at the sites I submit to...I get those fixed up first.  I'm usually in the midst of building a new batch of free sites, so there's always something to do.  Again, I'm a fairly prolific free site builder and crank out quite a few sites.  Fortunately, most link list owners know me and like my sites :)  But, building free sites is pretty much a never ending process...I'm always in the midst of a fresh build.

Sometime in the mid afternoon, I'll break for a cup of coffee and a smoke.  Then, shave the personal parts...grab a shower...and ravish the girlfriend!  Hey, even porn slingers gotta make time for SEX!

After fun time, have a bite to eat...watch an hour or so of stupid TV to get away from the computer.  And by about 9 PM, I'm back at it.  Clear the mail boxes again, catch up on the boards again, work a bit more on the newest batch of sites.  I usually do site reviews for my link list right around midnight, then update the site.

Late evening is usually when I'm catching up with friends in the biz on ICQ.  By about 1:30 or 2:00 in the morning, the eyes get fuzzy, the fingers get stupid...and it's time to call it a day.  Up at 9 the next morning to start the process over again.

5. What is the most important thing you have learned over the years in this industry?

MrYum: In a word...REPUTATION!  It's one of those things that's really not that difficult to establish a good one, but almost impossible to shake a bad one.  Also, networking...being known to the people you work with is of huge benefit in this business.  To the best of my knowledge, there really are no short cuts in online adult entertainment anymore.  The easy money was made many years go.  Now, it requires hard work, dedication, being known and knowing people to be successful in adult...especially in the free site/link list game.

6. Can you tell us about your website - what it is and what it offers?

MrYum: My main site is Free Porn Post.  It started out 4 years ago as my internal link list or hub where I only listed my own sites.  I didn't pay much attention to it, because I was always so busy with other projects.  Several months ago, I really started wondering why the site wasn't doing better with google and asked some friends to take a look at it.  The consensus was that the site needed more outside linkage, other than from my own domains/name servers.  So, a couple months ago...I renovated the site and opened it to public submissions.  Traffic is increasing nicely now, and I'm confident that the site will someday be a significant player in the link list arena.

7. What is your favorite part about working in this business?

MrYum: Cool...another one word answer...FREEDOM!  I love being able to call my own shots and make my own hours.  If I want to fire up the bike and go for a ride, I don't have to ask anyone...I go!  If I want to take a day off and go fishing...I can!  Not that I ever actually take the time to do those things...I'm always working...but I COULD if I wanted to!  lol

8. What is your least favorite part about working in this business?

MrYum: Well, given the current environment...I'd have to say the government interfering with lawful citizens who sell adult entertainment about consenting adults to adults.  But, I honestly think this is a rather nasty bump in the road...it'll get patched up in some fashion and we can get back to business.

Beyond the current mess, I'd have to go with spammers and cheats!  These are the people that make the entire industry look bad.  I'm lumping trojan installers, hackers, spoofers and a few other unsavory types in with cheats here.

When someone asks me what I do for a living, I tell them proudly that I work in online adult entertainment.  I AM proud of what I do...I honestly think the world would be a better place if more people were open and honest about their sexual appetites. 

BUT, because of the cheats in our business, I also make sure to tell people that I'm NOT the one spamming their mail boxes or hijacking their browser or installing spyware on their systems.  It's really kinda sad that I work in a business that's about human sexuality and pleasure, and yet I have to tell people I'm not the one fucking with their computer or e-mail boxes.

9. If you were starting all over today, would you do anything differently? And if so what would that be?

MrYum: Actually, I would do a few things differently.  I wouldn't wait so long to give up on Yahoo and I WOULD get into free sites a lot sooner than I did.

I WOULD get out there and start networking sooner than I did.

I WOULD open Free Porn Post to public submissions and link trades MUCH sooner!  Had I done that, my position would be much different and improved today.  But, I can't change yesterday...I can change tomorrow :)

I WOULDN'T listen to the guy that convinced me machine generated doorways were a great idea for google traffic.  That little fiasco cost me a banning of 30 domains.

10. What piece of advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out in this industry?

MrYum: Work smart, be honest, get to know people and NETWORK!

11. What are three things would you like to see changed (be it positive or negative) in this industry, tomorrow, a week from now, or a year down the road?

MrYum: I'd really like to see the 2257 regs changed significantly.  Honestly, I think that the government isn't going to give up on this entirely.  They want this industry regulated and frankly to some extent I can see why.  We really haven't done a terribly good job regulating ourselves.  However, 2257 is NOT the answer!  That said, I do think we're going to see some kind of regulation...I'm just hopeful the lawyers can make it reasonable.

I'd really like to see the industry close ranks to some degree.  People in this business complain that we have no unified voice...myself included.  The industry is maturing to some extent, and I really believe that if we can clean things up a bit (get rid of the cheats I mentioned earlier), the business could actually become more profitable.  I'm all for taking porn mainstream!  I want a computer in every den in America...and if dad doesn't have a den...then damnit...get that man some privacy and a computer!  He NEEDS to go to Free Porn Post!  lol

Lastly, I'd like to see some sponsor programs clean up their act.  This is very much a personal taste thing, but you asked so I'll tell you.  There are some sites out there that in my mind really push the envelope of consent and respect for women.  My view of this is probably tainted by the fact that I LOVE women!  The sexual pleasure available to us as human beings is virtually limitless and women are a pretty vital component of that pleasure...at least for this porn slinger...lol.

But, I hate seeing sites talking about "I Gave the Bitch What She Deserved" or "Asses Torn Open" or "See Her Scream in Pain" or "Virgin Schoolgirls Deflowered".  I read a thread on a board recently where a program owner was talking about having girls come in for a shoot and the girls know it's going to be an extreme oral set.  What the girls don't know is he's going to throat fuck them until they cry and puke on his cock.  This program owner was talking about this PROUDLY...saying the bitches were getting what they deserved.  I don't care how you slice it, that's no longer about pleasure...it's about degrading women.  While I understand that the stuff sells (a sad statement on society), I certainly would never promote that kind of site.  These are the reasons I'm pretty sure we're going to have some kind of government regulation.  Hell, I'm a porn slinger and I find that stuff offensive.  What do you think a Joe and Jane Mainstream would think of it?

12. Any new projects in the near future you would like to share with our readers?

MrYum: I'm not really sure yet, I've got a few things on my mind but am not sure which way I'll turn just yet.  I might open another link site or two, or I might just keep cranking out free sites and tweaking Free Porn Post to get it to the top :)
