1. How long have you been in the adult industry?
Cristia: About 4 years.
2. Can you give our readers a little background about yourself. What
did you do before you got in this business?
Cristia: I worked in
Retail most of my life but I always loved computers and did a lot of
different courses.
3. How did your previous job/profession help you in what you do
today?
Cristia: Well I guess that
it helped me in my communication skills more than anything which
does help a lot in this industry.
4. What is your daily routine - of and with the maintenance of your
website?
Cristia: I check my email
and deal with important issues regarding my link list, like link
trades etc first. Then I check my stats to see how much money I am
making which is always fun. Then it is time for the dreaded
submissions. It is a tedious job especially when you get hundreds of
subs and only end up listing a few. Checking the links that are
already on the site is a big job too and I am afraid it doesn't get
done as often as it should but I try to do it regularly. Having a
link list or a tgp is a full time job really but I always find time
to build new free sites and galleries to submit to other link lists
and tgps for traffic and profits. Adding hosted galleries to my link
list is something I try to do a couple of times a week as they are
good money makers. I always make sure I check that the site is up
and working before I go to bed every night.
5. What is the most important thing you have learned over the years
in this industry?
Cristia: That honesty and
integrity will get you everywhere when dealing with other webmasters
and sponsors.
6. Can you tell us about your website – what it is and what it
offers?
Cristia: Bad
Boy Billys
Boulevard is a Free Adult Link List that features quality galleries
of movies and pics and other free adult sites. Of course I have
sponsor ads and banners on all the pages and I build feature pages
to advertise the best value for money paysites too.
7. What is your favorite part about working in this business?
Cristia: My favorite
thing about working in this business is when I get up in the morning
I never know how much money I have made while I've been sleeping and
I start my day with a sense of excitement because you never know
what opportunity might crop up. I love building websites and
learning new things like scripts etc to fine tune them and I also
love figuring out how new computer programs work, especially
graphics ones. I also enjoy meeting other adult webmasters and have
made some very good friends over the years although I haven't met
most of them face to face.
8. If you were starting all over today, would you do anything
differently? And if so what would that be?
Cristia: I would have
networked more and asked other webmasters for help a lot earlier on
than I did. But the main thing I wish I could have done differently
would be that I would have started out in this business 10 years ago
if I knew what I know now.
9. What are three things would you like to see changed (be it
positive or negative) in this industry, tomorrow, a week from now,
or a year down the road?
Cristia: I'd like to
see more honest webmasters come on board who are there for the long
term and not just in it to make a quick buck (if they can). I'd also
like to see some of the bigger link lists and tgp owners give a
little more help to newbies who are just learning the ropes. There's
a lot to learn about doing the right and ethical thing and it's not
easy on your own. And I'd also like to see the sponsors who use
those viscious exit consoles and forced download dialers regulated
in some way. Although I am an adult webmaster who wants to make
money from the punters I am married to a porn surfer who encounters
these things often and I know how upsetting it is to have your
computer taken over. I avoid these sponsors like the plague because
I want people to come back to my websites and they do because they
can have a pleasant experience while they are there.
10. (You're going to be walking in someone else's shoes for this
question.) What piece of advice would you give yourself if you were
just starting out in this industry?
Cristia: Research and
study the industry in a holistic way, in other words, from every
angle and take advice from experienced webmasters when it is given
and if you don't understand something keep asking until you do.
11. What would you say are the biggest obstacle(s) facing in the
adult industry today?
Cristia: I'd say the
credit card issues are the biggest obstacles.
12. What is your number one secret for success?
Cristia: In my
experience I believe that if you learn everything you can about the
business you are entering into, work hard at it, and be persistent
and consistent you will succeed. Most of all be honest and don't try
to cheat or rip anybody off. That sort of mentality doesn't get you
anywhere, it just gets you a bad name and nobody will want to deal
with you.
