12 Questions from Robert “TheLegacy” Warren Of WebmasterParadise.com

1. How long have you been in the adult industry?

TheLegacy: Well let’s see, I am almost 45 (March 26th) so I would say 30 years in total. Full-time paid 10 years – before that - 20 years part-time/apprentice since I found my first girlie magazine stashed away in my dad’s closet, but weren’t we all? That does beg the question on how to define if someone is actually considering working in the industry or merely a surfer attempting to get recognition.  Simply put, if you are making money – you are in the front door. If the money you are making sustains your lifestyle without needing to work at another job – then you are full-time bona-fide Pornographer – Smut Peddler – evil sex fiend and disgusting pervert to your wife / gf’s parents, envy of all your high-school friends plus your own relatives who ask for passes and more than likely hold your accountant, lawyer and priests Credit Card numbers somewhere on your hard drive safer than E-Bay.

2. Can you give our readers a little background about yourself? What did you do before you got in this business?

TheLegacy: My god I was a totally different person back then that it’s hard to believe it’s was my own life. In my early 20’s I was in seminary and worked as a pastor for 7 years. I had a hard time dealing with hypocrisy including my own (how can I preach some ideas I don’t believe in?) so I left into the mainstream world working in the steel industry for aerospace and military applications.

Later I got into the chemical industry doing marketing and sales across Canada will over 800 offices under my supervision. Not feeling entirely satisfied I felt that computers / software was the way to go and became Marketing and Sales director for a software company that worked closely with government officials integrating software into high schools.

After some time there I picked up a newspaper and my attention was drawn to an ad for an internet protégé. After one interview I was hired on as Director of Marketing and Sales for the newly formed Python Communications to assist them in getting off the ground. The rest they say is history.

3. How did your previous job/profession help you in what you do today?

TheLegacy: My background in the seminary has taught me to have personal high business ethic and morals in how I treat everyone I come in contact with along with a sense of empathy to help our content company think like a webmaster. Added with the years of experience in the mainstream and government profession has added an element of professionalism, marketing experience and creativity.

Another aspect of the adult community that my training has assisted me with is not getting caught up in drama and battles on the boards. I keep a strong work ethic without needing to create some kind of persona that will draw attention to me. Simply put, if I am helping webmasters succeed I don’t need anything other way to draw attention to myself.

4. What is your daily routine - of and with the maintenance of your website(s)?

TheLegacy: I have a very rigid daily schedule always starting at 9am and working until the calls stop which often doesn’t. Fortunately I work out of home so that if a client needs to contact me should an emergency occur they can reach me anytime.  I receive calls around midnight from potential webmasters who have questions before signing up and even on Christmas day for dinner with some marketing assistance.  Those are tough since I want to help but it is personal time.

Usually my morning begins with answering emails, replying to board threads and arranging all those I need to call by the afternoon. Once that is done I factor in the time difference and call those I need to that day and work with head office to arrange new clients. The remainder of the day and evening is always spent helping out as many webmasters who call up requesting help, and that in itself is what eats up all my time, which can be rather frustrating for my wife and our personal time when I am on the phone constantly plus the weekends helping others out and loose track of my own life.

SheDevil has her own successful adult and mainstream website design company called ThinkPinkOnline.com which she also takes up the same amount of time as I do - so it kind of works nicely for us as a couple attempting to survive and buy a house for our future kids.  We are actually one of the few married teams out there that work in the industry, and it works for me greatly since she is a pleasure and useful partner to have around at conferences for networking.

Evenings I set aside time for the gym downstairs and sauna to keep my physical being going since I have diabetes, but also I feel it’s important that when your sitting most of the day to have a healthy body, spirit and mind to keep the energy level up. I don’t want to end up overweight or sick which will ultimately disrupt my work schedule. Balance is the key for everything – mind, body and soul. Without it I would end up bitchy, negative, ill, with no creativity, motivation or imagination - therefore useless to webmasters, myself and to the company.

5. What is the most important thing you have learned over the years in this industry?

TheLegacy: The most important thing I have learned is to trust only a few but mostly to take the wisdom given to me and mentor others.

I tend to keep my friends very close to me and mingle occasionally with those that merely wish to use me for their own advancement. The others who prefer to create BS or rape/pillage webmasters I have no contact with and rarely acknowledge them on the boards but I will be cordial at all times.

Dave Cummings said this to me when we had this discussion:

Being an adult webmaster gives one the opportunity to demonstrate positive character and high morals, …Bottom line, beware of the scumbags out there, be careful not to mis-connote that it's "OK" to pick-up some of their bad behaviors, and remember that "karma" seems to be a MAJOR part of the politics of porn! Gossip gets around quickly and extensively! Don't fall for someone's BS; rather, keep your ears and eyes open, just like you would in any other occupation where there are workplace politics!

Be a nice guy! Don't just merely "appear" to be a nice person; rather, actually do indeed BE a "nice guy". Make it innate in your inner self, and being. In porn, politically-speaking, "nice guys" are trustworthy, don't bad-mouth others, don't hit on other guy's women, DO behave like "nice guys", are considerate of others, never promise something they can't deliver on time, etc!”

Dave continues by saying to me: “In my experience, the shakers-and-movers tend to shun whiners and negative folks ---- can new webmasters really afford to have future business associates shun them just because the new folks "seem" to be negative?     Being a trouble-maker on the boards, or always looking to put folks down, quickly makes one "irrelevant"; I sense that such folks don't get the "karma" and opportunities that many others get a shot at!!! Don't be afraid to quietly "shun" wise guys, scumbags, trouble-makers, drug-users, the obnoxious, the know-it-all, and old fart bald guys who need to lose weight and stop banging women on film like he thought he was younger!”

We get away with so much more in how we mistreat our employee’s and one another than in the mainstream world. Most adult companies would be shut down if they were brought to the attention of certain employment standard agencies – those agencies would nail them to the wall. I have seen boss’s fire their employee’s for appearing more important at parties than they were, thereby taking the attention off the self-centered employer. I have seen women hired only because of her bra size and appearance, treated as second class employee’s because of what was ‘lacking’ between their legs, though funny as that may seem, I have seen women who have more balls than their male counterparts. No employee is safe – employers bask themselves in their profits as those under them barely make ends meet.

Yet as much as the industry can be unfair on certain levels, it also has its many benefits in the tight network of friends you develop that make each day worthwhile. Once you rise above the crap and money driven ego’s there really is good cause to have hope.  There are small cells of mentors and industry leaders who take efforts in helping each other out along with “newbie’s” in hopes of training proper ethics and business morals for the future adult market.  I would not be where I am if it weren’t for the assistance and family atmosphere created by this group and I know those who are in this business for the long haul know exact what I mean.

6. Can you tell us about your website – what it is and what it offers?

TheLegacy: WebmasterParadise.com has grown dramatically over the past year, more than any year since it began back in 1998. Since then it has only offered plugin movies without the fear of those bandwidth charges that accumulate by the end of the month. Our strongest webmaster client leads actually come from our competitors after they are surprised by the high bandwidth costs thinking that the 100$ a month they originally started with thinking they were getting a deal suddenly is far above what our base – flat fee is.

Though relatively behind the scenes for all those years – WebmasterParadise.com has decided to take their unique style of business to the regular webmaster – offering them deals usually reserved to the “king pins” of the industry who have used our content since they began.

Added to the restricted privilege of being one of the few who never charges bandwidth (unheard of in the plugin market) WebmasterParadise.com also boasts adding a NEW movie EVERY single day! Now with over 200 categories the best most can do is weekly.

Finally if all that wasn’t enough, WebmasterParadise.com offers webmaster members the Holy Grail of Porn – to meet and actually ‘fuck’ one of our pornstars directly from our studios in Costa Rica and become a star themselves!

NO one, and we mean NO ONE can even come close to what WebmasterParadise.com has achieved.

All this allows webmasters to increase their sign-ups by offering their new and current members plugin’s otherwise out of reach and reserved for the larger sites – and with more sign-ups – this means WebmasterParadise.com are Plugin’s that Pay!

7. What is your favorite part about working in this business?

TheLegacy: Networking! It’s the meeting and creating new business relationships that eventually end up as life long friends. It truly does mean as much as a sale – seeing webmasters succeed and having a part in it. E.g. Hearing one female who was stuck in a rut for 6 months then after some assistance she is happily after a year making over $40K USD per month. How can anyone not have a warm feeling of achievement from a client when hearing them thanking you for helping them reach their financial and personal goals? That is what keeps me going daily knowing that the next call or seminar will make someone else money.

8. What is your least favorite part about working in this business?

TheLegacy: I think I touched upon this and rarely do I speak of it – that is the self promoting posters who are full of themselves and their persona along with companies that abuse their employees and power with little concern for ethics and morality.

Do I have enemies? Of course – yet my philosophy as mentioned is simply – I do not speak ill of them and especially do not fill my mind up with negativity of those in the industry who’s only goal seems to be causing suffering and ridicule onto others. I walk a different path – with different goals.

YNOTBob taught me this very simply equation:

IYADWYAD = YAGWYAG

If You Always Do, What You Always Did
You Always Get, What You Always Got

9. If you were starting all over today, would you do anything differently? And if so what would that be?

TheLegacy: If I was to start all over again in this industry (in all honesty) and do something different - it would be the way I handled myself in the beginning with Python. I had an attitude, a chip on my shoulder and I know I burned some bridges there I think – I have always appreciate how professional the management has been but maybe some day I will have the time alone to apologize for my naïve attitude. Another area I would change was that I was slow in reaching out for a mentor until later on – thank god for Bob (YNOTBob) Rice who came alongside me and saw something in me that I couldn’t.

Others also nurtured me such as Sweetums, Twinkley, LAJ, Ron Stewart, Cyndalie, Rochard, VidVicious, DonMike, Aly Drummond, Dave Cummings, TinaBallina, Alfonsus (AK), GaryAlan and of course my amazingly talented friend and wife Shannon ( SheDevil) Warren – these people - if not by words - by example have been a strong foundation for me who I can be myself with and along with YNOTBob have been foundational pillars, having kept me alive and growing within the adult industry and in my personal life. If anyone admires me then please give credit to those who helped mold me into someone worthwhile listening too.

I often tell my clients and those I speak too that I do not know everything about this industry and would never claim too – but I sure as hell know those who DO!! I have achieved a strong network of brilliant friends who I can call upon for assistance anytime of the day who make my mere words stronger and wiser in comparison.

10. What piece of advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out in this industry?

TheLegacy: Read, read and read more. Continually educate yourself in this industry but don’t forget your source of power - Networking is survival.

11. If you weren't doing what you're doing now, What other profession would you like to pursue?

TheLegacy: After 10 years it’s hard to think of myself as being able to do anything else – but I would imagine I would be still working in the professional field, wearing a suit – doing presentations and managing offices across North America seeking those late night moments to surf porn and sign up for my content wishing somehow I could figure a way to get into that industry.

Outside of that I would end up being a pastor or counselor of some sort still hoping to get into the industry. It truly can be the best environment to work in if you know how to network properly and live peacefully with as many as possible – avoiding those who’s life is simply an irritant to the world.

12. Any new projects in the near future you would like to share with our readers?

TheLegacy: WebmasterParadise.com's owner and president Wayne is one of those few presidents that do not take their employee’s for granted and who are willing to sit, listen and move forward with ideas of content so that as a team we can mold a company that is focused on assisting webmasters by have the best content and service in the industry as is in my nature to do so already. That is why I can see myself retiring here. His style of leadership along with the office staff from Lisa in accounting to the tech and production departments is a pleasant surprise than what I am accustomed too in this or any industry. They wish to succeed, but do so as a team in an environment that is conducive for growth in a positive manner so that everyone has input and is respectful of each others talents.

Our strategy for 2006 will always be how we can help make webmasters more money by giving them greater service, plus variety and higher quality content including broadband that will draw in surfers to sign up for their website. We have already taken the 2257 fear from the equation by making ourselves fully compliant and our “new movie a day” is totally automated so that once the webmaster puts our thumbnails and protected links up – there is no need to manually check – they update themselves.  We do however send new products for clients to update their site(s) - 41 in Dec alone -which is good news for everyone!!

WebmasterParadise.com is also keen on breaking the boundaries that other providers lack such as on content niches for those discerning sites that have a specific member database in mind. We stay true to the “feel” of the webmasters site. If you are creating for example a lesbian site – do you really want a guy holding the camera talking his ass off to the two girls? NO – if they are truly lesbians they certainly are not going to have a guy standing in the room or even get off with a guy talking to them every kiss they make!!  Lesbians are lesbians because they don’t want a male around. Or in another example a strictly handjob site where the guy takes his dick away from the girl and finishes it himself – what’s with that? If you are getting a friggin handjob – why does a guy need to finish it himself by masturbating? Does he like the feeling of a males hand on him more than a woman? I don’t think so. True handjob content has the female complete the task NOT the guy. We are very sensitive to the fetish and connoisseur of porn to give them what they pay for so that the webmaster isn’t faced with charge backs.

We are a content provider that thinks like a webmaster… and a webmaster wants plugin movies that pay for themselves with no surprises at the end of the month with unreal bandwidth charges.

WebmasterParadise.com is known for Plugins’ That Pay!!
